Synopsis:

Unlike Veerana, Makahaal reached Indian movie screens just as the horror flick boom was coming to an end. An Indian version of A Nightmare on Elm Street (it wouldn’t be the first), the last horror movie from the Ramsay factory’s golden age strived to move the setting of Wes Craven’s film to a Bollywood-like context, adding the company’s usual stamps: color filters and smoke everywhere, stages worthy of the best Italian fantaterror,  musical interludes and a healthy dose of eroticism starring the fleshy Archana Puran Singh. A zany eighties revival where not even Michael Jackson is missing.

Director biography:

Tulsi i Shyam Ramsay

Members of the popular Ramsay family, pioneers of modern Indian horror films, they both worked as producers before debuting as directors with Do Gaz Zameen ke Neeche (72). Purana Mandir (84) and Bandh Darwaza (90) were two of their big hits.
