Red Nights (Nuits rouges du bourreau de jade)

Julien Carbon & Laurent Courtiaud

Official Fantàstic Competition

Trailer / Images:

Somewhere between polar, giallo and category III. That’s how playful the colorful directorial debut is from this atypical pair of Frenchmen whose curriculum includes a nomination for the Hong Kong film awards. Because their passion for the old English colony and genre cinema is something you can feel in Red Nights, a ‘blood red’ thriller where three femme fatales compete for a mysterious jade seal. Just for having drawn the star of Naked Killer out of her voluntary retirement they already deserved to have a monument built to them, but if that wasn’t enough, Red Nights overwhelms with an aura of long-missed eroticism and perversity. Chapeau!
