Synopsis:
Somewhere between polar, giallo and category III. That’s how playful the colorful directorial debut is from this atypical pair of Frenchmen whose curriculum includes a nomination for the Hong Kong film awards. Because their passion for the old English colony and genre cinema is something you can feel in Red Nights, a ‘blood red’ thriller where three femme fatales compete for a mysterious jade seal. Just for having drawn the star of Naked Killer out of her voluntary retirement they already deserved to have a monument built to them, but if that wasn’t enough, Red Nights overwhelms with an aura of long-missed eroticism and perversity. Chapeau! Director biography: Julien Carbon & Laurent Courtiaud
Both writers and film critics, they moved to Hong Kong in 1995 where they have developed a successful career as screenwriters. They have collaborated with Johnnie To and Tsui Hark, among others, and in 2007 they founded the Red East Pictures production company. Red Nights is their directorial debut. Cast & Crew:
