Synopsis:

Hendrick Goltzius asks the margrave of Alsace for patronage to print a volume of biblical stories illustrated with engravings. In exchange, the painter and his theater company will perform these stories for the amusement of the benefactor and his court. Faithful to his cultured, multicolored discourse, Peter Greenaway continues to produce a multidisciplinary conception of cinema that, even today, belongs only to him.
