Synopsis:

Sook-hee, a professional pickpocket, accepts a macabre assignment: to become a lady’s handmaid and steal her inheritance. But their plans get upset when the two young women begin to feel attracted to each other. An adaptation of a Sarah Waters novel, The Handmaiden travels back in time to the 1930’s, to Japanese-occupied Korea, to become a film with gothic undertones and Park Chan-wook’s visual exuberance.
