It all began in January 1965, when the Iranian Prime Minister was assassinated in front of the parliament. Detective Hafizi is sent to a remote island in the Persian Gulf to investigate a political prisoner’s suspicious death. But what he finds there is an even greater mystery. There’s a cemetery out in the middle of the desert. Word has it that it’s haunted and if anyone is buried there, a terrible earthquake will be unleashed.
Studied philosophy in Montreal and returned to Teheran to work in filmmaking. As a director he’s shot films like Men at Work (06) or Modest Reception (12). As a screenwriter and actor, he’s collaborated with Asghar Farhadi, among others.
