Director biography:

He debuted as an actor in 1982 as the other half of the comic duo Downtown, the first stone of a career that crowned him as one of the renovators of comedy in Japan. In 2007 he directed his first movie, Big Man Japan, which was followed by Symbol (09), both screened in Sitges.
