The great Ingrid Pitt, queen of the undead, has left us

The Sitges – International Fantastic Festival of Catalonia would like to pay tribute to the Polish-British actress Ingrid Pitt (1937-2010). Iconic image of the Hammer and Amicus factories with her roles as a vampiress in the sixties and seventies, she was discovered by the film director from Segovia José Antonio Nieves-Conde who, thanks to his prophetic vision, gave her a role in the exceptional Sound of Horror in 1964. This was the springboard that, with the aid of her exotic central European accent, would catapult her into the laps of Richard Burton and Clint Eastwood in Where Eagles Dare. Afterwards, a series of unforgettable movies for fantaterror fans would appear like The Vampire Lovers, from the recently deceased and very much esteemed Roy Ward-Baker, Countess Dracula, The House That Dripped Blood and Robin Hardy’s masterpiece The Wicker Man. To your health, Ingrid Pitt. You will never die, queen of the undead.
