Killer Joe, SITGES 2011 surprise film
So you can’t complain. Sitges always has some ace up its sleeve, and this year we’re bringing you a five fingers up dish. One of the films that generated the most enthusiasm at the Mostra in Venice. Killer Joe: the return, as loud as a burst of machine gun fire, of William Friedkin, one of the essential directors in seventies and eighties North American cinema. The director of The Exorcist, one of the best horror movies of all times, continues to be in tip top shape, as he already showed us in Bug (Sitges’07), and he now brings us a super violent black tragi-comedy, a runaway film noir that doesn’t exactly leave the human race in a very nice place. Matthew McConaughey, Emile Hirsch and Juno Temple star in Killer Joe, which can be seen tomorrow in the Auditori, at 13:00 and 1:00 in the last marathon.
