Sitges 2012 has its first winners

Rebelle, Me @ the Zoo, Crazy & Thief, Wu Xia (Dragon), Okami kodomo no ame to yuki (Wolf Children), Fuga, Holy Motors, Eat, Tower Black and Elefante are the first winners at the 45th Sitges - International Fantastic Film Festival of Catalonia, corresponding to the Noves Visions, Casa Asia and Silver Méliès screenings. The awards will be handed out at the first of two Sitges 2012 closing galas, which will be held tonight (22:45) at the Prado, before the screening of Kim Ki-Duk’s Pieta.

 

The parallel sections Noves Visions and Casa Asia and the Silver Méliès, will be giving their 45th edition awards at a gala will take place tonight. This is the first year that the Festival will be holding a double closing ceremony, where these three awards will be handed out. The remaining awards will be presented at the final gala, which will be on Saturday at 19:30 at the Auditori. With this double closing gala, the Festival reaffirms its commitment to recovering its historic spirit and moving some of the most important moments of the event to the Prado and Retiro movie theaters.

 

The Sitges - International Fantastic Film Festival of Catalonia’s Noves Visions Section jury, made up by Jaume Ripoll, Carlos Vermut and Julian Richards, has decided on the following awards:

 

Noves Visions Award

Rebelle, be Kim Nguyen

 

No-Ficció” Award

Me @ the Zoo, by Chris Moukarbel, Valerie Veatch

 

Petit Format Award

Crazy & Thief, de Cory McAbee

 

 

The Sitges - International Fantastic Film Festival of Catalonia’s Casa Asia – Anima’t Section jury, made up by Eduard Terrades, Frédéric Ambroisine and Ricardo Reparaz, has decided on the following awards:

 

Best feature film in the Casa Àsia Section

Wu Xia (Dragon), by Peter Ho-sun Chan

 

Best animated feature film

Okami kodomo no ame to yuki (Wolf Children), by Mamoru Hosoda

 

Best animated short

Fuga, by Juan Antonio Espigares

 

 

The Sitges - International Fantastic Film Festival of Catalonia&rsqu o;s Silver Méliès jury, made up by Blai Morell, Shelagh Rowan-Legg and Garrick Dion, has decided on the following awards:

 

Award for best in competition feature film in the Official European Fantàstic Selection

Holy Motors, by Léos Carax

 

Award for best in competition short film in the Official European Fantàstic Selection

Eat, by Moritz Krämer

 

Award for best in competition feature film in the Official Fantàstic Panorama Selection
