Fantastic film reaches the FIC-CAT hand in hand with the Sitges Film Festival
For the third year running, the FIC-CAT will include the Pantalla Sitges section
The Sitges Film Festival renews its agreement with the FIC-CAT Costa Daurada International Festival of Cinema in Catalan, which will be celebrating its tenth anniversary from June 5th to the 11th in Roda de Berà (Tarragonès province), with a clear commitment to fantastic cinema in Catalan. The agreement allows the FIC-CAT to program different science fiction, horror and fantasy films that have been screened in Sitges.
For the third year in a row, the Pantalla Sitges (Sitges Screen) section appears again, sponsored by the veteran Festival as a part of the FIC-CAT lineup. Àngel Sala, Director of the Sitges Film Festival, will be in Roda de Berà the night of June 8th to present the section and to follow the evolution of the FIC-CAT from close up. Sala knows the Festival well, since he’s participated in it as a member of the Jury.
The feature film La Propera Pell (The Next Skin), directed by Isaki Lacuesta and Isa Campo, will be the main feature in Pantalla Sitges this year. The film, starring Àlex Monner, Emma Suárez, Sergi López and Bruno Todeschini, presents a teenager who went missing and returns eight years later, when everyone has already written him off for dead. His incorporation back into family life will be marked by the mystery of his disappearance. Little by little, doubts will arise as to whether he is really the missing boy or an impostor. La Propera Pell premiered at Sitges 2016.
The agreement between the two festivals reinforces a collaboration that will widely disseminate and emphasize the importance of fantastic film in the Catalan audiovisual industry, and that must contribute to defending the feature length and short films premiering this year and making them visible.
