For the sixth year, the energy company renews its agreement as main sponsor of the Sitges - International Fantastic Film Festival of Catalonia

At this year’s Sitges Film Festival, Gas Natural Fenosa will be presenting the second part of the film Proyecto Tiempo, produced by the energy company as a part of Cinergía, its cinematic initiative to raise awareness about energy saving and efficiency among the general public. In addition, the energy company has renewed its commitment to the Festival, announcing that it will be the main sponsor for the sixth year.

Proyecto Tiempo is the film from the fourth edition of Cinergía, directed by Isabel Coixet, and in collaboration with the El Terrat production company and the Arena Media agency. A new feature is that the audience got to participate and was able to personalize some of the key details of the filming via the company’s social movie media. The storyline takes place in the future and aims to reflect what an evolved and aware society is in terms of energy efficiency, as well as the two sides of medium term technological progress.

The production is made up of four intertwined parts that are conclusive in themselves. The one that will be premiering in Sitges in October is entitled Proyecto Tiempo. Parte II: La Cura (Project Time. Part II: The Cure). Participating in it are Carmen Machi, Pablo Rivero, Belén Cuesta and Hiba Abouk. The story’s main character, Pablo Andrade, is a promising unemployed scientist, obsessed with finding a cure for his mother Alma’s brain, after she has just suffered an ictus. The cure for her illness not only returns her brain to its usual state, but it actually improves it.

According to the General Director of Communication and Institutional Relations for Gas Natural Fenosa, Jordi Garcia Tabernero, “Sitges has become an essential platform to introduce our Cinergía productions, as well as a safe bet within the commitment to collaborate we’ve maintained with the film industry since 2008”.

During the Sitges - International Fantastic Film Festival of Catalonia, from 5th to 15th October, the company will have a stand set up at Sant Sebastià Beach in Sitges, where they will show the first two parts of the film Proyecto Tiempo at different screenings throughout the day. What’s more, new this year, visitors will be invited to participate in a virtual escape room where they can pick up some tips related to energy efficiency and win different awards.

Global acknowledgement for Cinergía

The first three editions have chalked up more than 53 million hits on television and the Internet, an increase of 23.5% in conversations on energy efficiency, and approximately 80,000 fans in social media.
