Films from Sitges start a national tour around Spain
The Sitges – International Fantastic Film Festival of Catalonia and the A Contracorriente Films distribution and production company have just created the Sitges Tour A Contracorriente, and it will be kicking off this upcoming March 6th. This film series will consist of screening four of the movies presented at Sitges 2014, in a road show at different movie theaters around Spain.
The chosen titles, never-before-seen in movie theaters, that will be making up the Sitges Tour A Contracorriente are Oculus, Zombeavers, Lawless, and The Target. Oculus, a film from the producer of Paranormal Activity and Insidious, and directed by Mike Flanagan, was a huge hit following its commercial premiere in the United States, bringing in over 27 million dollars. The monster movie where the stars are a horde of mischievous rodents, Zombeavers, was also presented at the Tribeca, Neuchâtel and FrightFest fantastic film festivals. Also participating is Lawless, the movie directed by John Hillcoat (The Road), and selected at the Cannes Film Festival, and it stars Shia LaBeouf, Tom Hardy, Mia Wasikowska, Jessica Chastain and Guy Pearce. Finally, The Target will also be screened, the film by Chang presented at Cannes 2014, which is the Korean remake of Fred Cavayé’s movie Point Blank.
The first theaters to host this initiative will be the Conde Duque Santa Engracia Cinemas in Madrid, on March 6th, and for a limited time only: one week. It will be possible to purchase a pass at these theaters in order to be able to enjoy all four films for just 12 euros. Immediately afterwards, the Sitges Tour A Contracorriente will be traveling around all of Spain, and in addition to Barcelona, it will be landing in Seville, Santander, Valladolid, Malaga and Palma de Mallorca, among others.
