Sitges Pitchbox 2016 grows and is reinforced by introducing cash prizes
Horror, science fiction and fantastic feature film projects can now be registered to be eligible for becoming one of the seven to be selected
It’s time to kick off a new Sitges Pitchbox, the pitching event organized by the Filmarket Hub online platform in collaboration with the Sitges Film Festival. From July 6th until September 7th, those screenwriters, directors and producers who have a genre project in the developmental phase can register.
From among all registered projects, 7 will be selected to make a pitch in front of producers, distributors and film industry companies on October 14th, as a part of the Festival. 10 special mentions will also be awarded, and although they won’t be making a pitch, they will attend the event and participate in the post networking.
This year is also loaded with new developments and prizes for the participating projects. Thanks to the Barcelona Diputación City Council, two different cash prizes will be awarded to the best projects in the amount of 6,000€ and 4,000€, and a third prize will go to the project with the greatest international impact and/or Asian references allowing it to travel to South Korea and be presented at the BIFAN (Bucheon International Film Festival). In addition, the two best Catalan projects will be able to travel to Buenos Aires along with Catalan Films & TV to participate in a second pitching event at Blood Window, the fantastic film section at the Ventana Sur market, the most important one in Latin America.
In order to be a candidate for Sitges Pitchbox, the project must be registered with Filmbox, the Filmarket Hub’s online script and coproduction market. Those projects sent before July 28th will receive a 20% discount.
