Borja Cobeaga will be premiering the second part of the film 'En tu cabeza', produced by Gas Natural Fenosa, in Sitges

The power company renews its agreement as the official sponsor of the Sitges - International Fantastic Film Festival of Catalonia

This year in Sitges, Gas Natural Fenosa will be premiering the second part of the film En tu cabeza, produced by the power company as a part of Cinergía, its cinematic initiative to raise awareness of energy saving and efficiency among the general public. This feature film, the first branded content movie by a Spanish company, is made up of four intertwining shorts, the second of which is directed by Borja Cobeaga and that will be premiering at the upcoming Fantastic Film Festival.

In addition, for the fifth year Gas Natural Fenosa will be the official sponsor of the Festival, to be held from 7 to 16 October. The director general of Communication and the Presidential Cabinet for Gas Natural Fenosa, Jordi Garcia Tabernero, the director general of the Sitges - International Fantastic Film Festival of Catalonia Foundation, Xavier Duran, and Festival Director, Àngel Sala, just recently renewed the sponsorship agreement.

The feature length film En tu cabeza, written by Daniel Sánchez Arévalo, was produced by Gas Natural Fenosa with the support of the El Terrat Production Company, joining this project for the second year running, and the Arena Media agency. The four intertwining shorts which it’s composed of are directed by Kike Maíllo, Borja Cobeaga, Sánchez Arévalo himself and the winner of the “Cinergía Talent” award at the MadridCortoFest festival, Alberto Ruiz Rojo.

Borja Cobeaga’s short film, which will be premiering at this year’s Sitges Film Festival Sitges, is entitled Milagros y remedios (Miracles & Remedies), and stars Michelle Jenner, Hugo Silva, Fernando Tejero, Rossy de Palma and Maxi Iglesias. It tells the story of Andrea, who will travel back in time from the future to the year 2016 in order to improve our energy efficiency habits, but will also make the most of her journeys to correct her own past errors. This is how she gets into the head of Vicente, a real estate agent who’s desperate to make a sale, and in the head of Milagros, a peculiar and tortured neighbor.

Cinergía’s goal is to transmit the importance of energy saving and efficiency and, at the same time, to present Gas Natural Fenosa’s products and services. The shorts will be premiering at Spain’s main film festivals which, in addition, are sponsored by Gas Natural Fenosa (the first, directed by Kike Maíllo, will be premiering at the San Sebastian Festival), and will reach the homes of thousands of Spaniards.

Success of Cinergía in previous years

The productions from the first two years of Cinergía have chalked up a total of more than 23 million views, a 28.5% increase in conversations on efficiency and over 22,000 mentions in social networks. Noteworthy among the latest prizes are the three Sun Awards from the prestigious 2016 Latin American Advertising Communication Festival: a Silver Sun as an integrated campaign, as well as a Golden Sun and a Grand Award for the short “Consumo responsable (Nivel 7)” by Santiago Segura. The second edition of Cinergía was also the only Spanish work present on the Entertainment shortlist at Cannes Lions 2016.

In addition, it has won awards at Sitges Next 2016 in the Branded Content category, the Círculo de Economía Foundation Prize, the silver EFI, a golden Inspirational and the Values Award at the 21st Zapping Awards by the Catalan Association of Audiovisual Media Consumers for their support of the audiovisual sector and responsible consumption in synergy with TV stations and production companies.

Commitment to culture and cinema

Gas Natural Fenosa continues its commitment to collaborate with society and especially, with the film world, through its support of Spain’s main festivals and movie theaters. The company sponsors the San Sebastian Festival, the Sitges - International Fantastic Film Festival of Catalonia, the Madrid Premiere Week and the Malaga Spanish Film Festival, the critics’ Feroz Awards and the Cartagena International Film Festival, as well as the more than 40 movie theaters belonging to the Cinesa network in Spain with the GAS NATURAL FENOSA name. Along with the Film Academy, the company also promotes the Gas Natural Fenosa travelling film series.
