Elio Quiroga wins the Minotauro Award, which will be presented to him at Sitges 2015

Los que Sueñan, a science fiction novel by Elio Quiroga, is the winner of the 2015 Minotauro Award, which will be presented to him during the 48th Sitges – International Fantastic Film Festival of Catalonia.

The work reflects the international boom genre is currently experiencing. It’s a story that sets out a very topical dilemma and that constantly surprises the reader. This book will be going on sale on October 6th and on October 13th, it will be presented in Sitges at a press conference, with the attendance of the author and Jury members. The official Award Ceremony will be on the 13th, before the screening of one of the Festival’s films.

Elio Quiroga is an author, screenwriter and film director. He’s published three novels: El Despertar (Timun Mas), Los Códices del Apocalipsis (Tyranosaurus Books) and Ydill (Dolmen). And he’s directed four feature length films: Fotos (Winner of the award for Best Screenplay and the special Jury Award at the 1997 Sitges Festival), La Hora Fría (2007), No-Do (2009) and The Mystery of the King of Kinema (2015), plus numerous short films.

The 2015 Minotauro Award Jury members are Adrián Guerra, film producer, Carlos Molinero, winner of the XI edition of the Minotauro Award, Àngel Sala, director of the Sitges International Fantastic Film Festival of Catalonia, Marcela Serras, editorial director of Minotauro and Javier Sierra, writer.

This is the twelfth year of the Minotauro Publishing Company’s International Science Fiction and Fantastic Literature Award. Authors like Javier Negrete, León Arsenal, Carlos Sisí or Clara Tahoces are among its winners and it has become a benchmark in genre literature, endowed with 6,000 Euros.

In addition, for the second year running, the Minotauro Award is linked to the Sitges – International Fantastic Film Festival of Catalonia. This initiative connects the International Science Fiction and Fantastic Literature Award to the number one fantastic film festival in the world, and seeks to offer all genre fans a chance to enjoy and participate in the award ceremony event.
