Sitges travels to CinemaAttic in Scotland

A selection of fantastic short films can be seen at the festival

This week the Scottish film competition CinemaAttic is welcoming the Sitges Festival, which will be participating with a lineup of fantastic genre shorts. CinemaAttic is the platform for Catalan, Spanish and Latin American cinema and is held in Edinburgh and Glasgow.

For the screenings dedicated to Sitges, the Festival has chosen some of the best short films presented in its recent years, which will be shown this upcoming Friday, January 18th, at the Focus on Sitges event. The selected films are Escarabana, by Sara Casasnovas; Rewind, by Rubén Pérez-Barrena; Z-Fest, by David Cordero; Bye Bye Baby, by Pablo S. Pastor; RIP, by Caye Casas and Albert Pintó, and Cuerno de hueso, by Adrián López.

This visit to Scotland is the kickoff of a year when the Festival’s international presence is being consolidated. Edinburgh and Glasgow are the first two stops in the circuit of international screenings that Sitges is preparing for this 2019. The 52nd Sitges – International Fantastic Film Festival of Catalonia will be held from October 3rd to 13th and its leitmotiv will be Heart of Darkness, the legendary novel by Joseph Conrad. The main reference of this year’s Festival will be Mad Max, –celebrating its 40th anniversary– as well as other films from 1979 like Alien, Apocalypse Now and The Warriors, or from 1999 like Eyes Wide Shut.
