Biografia
Agnieszka Smoczyńska is a Polish director who has made a name for herself in contemporary fantastic filmmaking thanks to her original, unsettling filmography with her strong stylistic imprint.
She made her feature film debut with The Lure (2015), a horror musical that reinterprets the myth of mermaids through a dark and extravagant tale set in 1980s Poland. This film, which blends elements of fairy tales, body horror, and social criticism, picked up awards at several international festivals, including the Sitges Film Festival, where it received a special mention.
In 2018, she directed Fugue, a drama with touches of mystery and psychological elements, and in 2022, she released The Silent Twins, a piece with surrealistic elements based on a true story.
