Amanda Nell Eu

Biografia

Born in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, on November 26, 1985, Amanda Nell Eu is a director and screenwriter who studied at the London Film School, where she earned a master's degree in filmmaking. She has also participated in programs such as Berlinale Talents and Locarno Filmmakers Academy and experimented with short films such as Lagi Senang Jaga Sekandang Lembu (2017) and Vinegar Baths (2018), both strongly influenced by Southeast Asian folklore and with a marked fantastic tone.

Her feature film debut came in 2023 with Tiger Stripes, a folk horror tale that combines fantasy and drama with puberty as its central theme. The film won the Critics' Week Grand Prize at the 2023 Cannes Film Festival and was presented at the Sitges Film Festival.
