Ben Wheatley

Biografia
One of the most powerful voices in 21st-century British genre filmmaking, he made his feature debut with Down Terrace (2009), an atypical and fantastic neo-noir film full of black humor. His leap to fame in the world of fantastique came with Kill List (2011), a highly personal reinterpretation of The Wicker Man, which was awarded the Méliès d'Argent for Best European Film in Sitges. In 2013, he reigned supreme at the Festival once again with Sightseers (2012), an ultraviolent black comedy that picked up the award for Best Screenplay. His exciting forays into folk horror, with the outstanding A Field in England (2013) and In the Earth (2021), and festive films such as Free Fire (2016) and Meg 2: The Trench (2023), make him one of the most versatile directors of his generation.
