The Festival's Director was Xavier Catafal, who served in that role for just this one year. Sally Potter became the first female director to win the Festival's Best Film Award with Orlando, an adaptation of one of Virginia Woolf's masterpieces. Big-name guests included Bryan Singer, John Woo, Tony Scott, Christian Slater, Guillermo del Toro, and Peter Bogdanovich.
