The Festival honored one of its prodigal sons: Quentin Tarantino received the Time Machine Award. In his role as executive producer, the filmmaker presented Curdled. This year, the Festival also began presenting the Méliès d'Or Award for the Best European Fantastic Film of the Year. In a formidable Seven Chances selection, viewers were treated to God's Comedy, JLG/JLG: Self-Portrait in December, Kids Return, and Maborosi, among others. This last film was presented by its director, Hirokazu Kore-eda.
