32nd edition

First of two editions under the artistic direction of Roc Villas. The Festival opened with eXistenZ and closed with The Winslow Boy. The surprise screening—a Sitges classic—featured a major premiere: none other than Fight Club. A major retrospective was dedicated to Jacques Demy, which brought filmmaker Agnès Varda, widow of the French musical master, to Sitges. The successful premiere of The Nameless, the highly anticipated debut feature from Jaume Balagueró, served as a prelude to the Fantastic Factory project. Some of this edition’s guests included Whit Stillman, Hideo Nakata, Miki Nakatani, Lloyd Kaufman, Veronica Cartwright, Cédric Kahn, Sophie Guillemin, Henry Thomas, and Isabel Coixet.
