George Lucas received the honorary La General award, which was accepted on his behalf by the Director of Content Management and Head of Fan Relations at Lucasfilm Ltd. On the official jury, there were three world-renowned figures: Ken Foree, star of Dawn of the Dead; Christopher Priest, writer specializing in the fantastic and science fiction genres; and Marco Müller, who at that time was director of the Venice Film Festival. Among the other distinguished guests were John Landis, Paul Naschy, Joel Schumacher, Andrew Lloyd Webber, Sarah Michelle Gellar, Corey Feldman, Juanma Bajo Ulloa, Romain Duris, Gerard Butler, Minnie Driver, and Patrick Wilson.
