Kevin Smith's Red State won the Award for Best Feature Film. Artificial intelligence was the inspiration behind the Festival's poster, featuring an unsettling image based on the work of robotics expert Hiroshi Ishiguro, who was a guest in Sitges. Tony Ching Siu-tung, Michael Ironside, Jaume Balagueró, Bigas Luna, and Luigi Cozzi were among the award winners. The lineup included a trio of auteurs who envisioned the apocalypse in radically different ways: Lars Von Trier's Melancholia, Béla Tarr's The Turin Horse, and Abel Ferrara's 4:44 Last Day on Earth.
