Festival Isla Calavera and Tenerife Film Commission: The Canary Islands as a Stage for Genre Cinema

This roundtable takes audiences on a journey to the heart of fantastic cinema from two complementary perspectives. On one hand, the Isla Calavera Fantastic Film Festival of the Canary Islands will present an exclusive preview of the highlights of its 2025 edition in the city of La Laguna, consolidating its role as one of Spain’s leading genre film events.

On the other, the Tenerife Film Commission will showcase the key factors that have made Tenerife a privileged location for international productions, with unique incentives, versatile settings, and a growing audiovisual ecosystem. Through recent success stories, participants will discover how the Canary Islands have become a natural stage for genre cinema and a hub of opportunities for filmmakers and producers.

A conversation where cinema, industry, and territory come together to explore how the alliance between a specialized festival and a film office can boost visibility for talent and attract new productions to the archipelago.

Participants: Daniel Fumero, Co-director of the Isla Calavera Festival; Ramón González, Co-director of the Isla Calavera Festival; Vanesa Bocanegra, Deputy Director of the Isla Calavera Festival; and Ricardo Martínez, Director of the Tenerife Film Commission.
