Sitges Pitchbox

NOW OPEN

For the seventh consecutive year, the Filmarket Hub platform and Festival de Sitges come together to organize Sitges Pitchbox, an international pitching event focused on feature films and series in development of horror, science fiction or fantasy. An initiative that aims to discover the best gender projects and connect them with leading companies in the industry. The event will take place virtually on October 8 and 15 as part of the Festival de Sitges.

Five European series and five feature films from around the world will be selected to participate in the program. Those responsible for the selected projects will have the opportunity to make a sales pitch and meet with each of the participating companies.

Additionally, four cash prizes will be distributed for development expenses, thanks to the Diputación de Barcelona (Barcelona Provincial Council). In this edition, and as an exceptional measure in response to the Covid-19 crisis, the prizes in the form of travel bags to attend and present the project to the markets of the NAFF - Bucheon International Film Festival (South Korea) and in Blood Window from Ventana Sur (Argentina), are converted into two additional development awards.

SHOWRUNNERS LAB

As the main novelty, this edition will be complemented with the Showrunners LAB, an introductory and advisory seminar on the figure of the showrunner, a key piece in series productions, through the presentation and analysis of three models: United States, Scandinavian Countries and Spain.

The initiative, which has the support and co-organization of Europa Creativa Desk - MEDIA Catalunya, invites the five series projects selected in the Sitges Pitchbox call to participate in this laboratory, which will have the collaboration of an outstanding showrunner representative of each of the models. The showrunners invited to the programe will offer one-to-one advice to the five projects and will carry out a masterclass exposing the main characteristics o their model, as well as a study-case based on their trajectory.
