Shot in 1979, William Friedkin’s Cruising caused a great amount of controversy and 40 minutes of footage were cut from it. Over three decades later, filmmakers Travis Mathews and James Franco wonder what this excluded material could have been like. Interior, Leather Bar starts off with an introduction to the project to later give way to the free recreation of those scenes that were eliminated.
Travis Mathews, James Franco
A psychology student, Matthews was born in Ohio in 1975. He directed the documentary In Their Room (09), where he showed homosexuals’ bedrooms. Franco was born in Palo Alto in 1978. Actor, producer and director, he was nominated for an Academy Award for 127 Hours (10).
