In 1971, two years before his death, Bruce Lee returned to Hong Kong with the intention of obtaining the fame he had been denied in the United States. During this time, he made four films and later went on to become a legend. Through stock footage and the testimony of relatives and friends, Be Water portrays Lee from a highly contemporary perspective, exploring the racism inherent both in society and the film industry.
The son of Vietnamese refugees, he studied at New York University and the School of Visual Arts; and he works back and forth between Los Angeles and Saigon. He made his feature debut with Live from New York! (15), about that famous institution of humor known as Saturday Night Live.
