Screenings were moved from the Casino Prado to the Retiro Theater. Despite the fact that a great deal of the Festival's appeal during Franco's regime stemmed from the opportunity to see certain images that were normally banned, the event continued to be subject to censorship. One of the films that fared the worst was The Picture of Dorian Gray: reports claim that the censor eradicated all of the film's erotic potential by cutting out a third of its content.
