Sitges celebrated its fifth anniversary by being recognized by the FIAPF with Category A status within the circuit of specialized festivals. On the jury, a president not associated with genre cinema but undoubtedly exceptional: Luis García Berlanga. It was the year the Sitges audience discovered Zé do Caixão, created by José Mojica Marins. Among the parallel events, the standout was an exhibition dedicated to painter and sculptor Pierrot, who designed that year’s Festival poster, as well as the posters for the following two editions.
