5th edition

Sitges celebrated its first five years of existence by receiving the FIAPF's recognition with Category A status within the specialized festival circuit. The president of the jury was a director-screenwriter whose work was not associated with genre but who was undoubtedly exceptional: Luis García Berlanga. It was the year that Sitges' audiences discovered Zé do Caixão, created by José Mojica Marins. Among the parallel events, the highlight was an exhibition dedicated to painter and sculptor Pierrot, who designed that year's Festival poster, as well as those for the following two editions.
