The guest of honor at this edition was Roy Ashton, renowned makeup artist from Hammer Films. A tribute was paid to the great French filmmaker Georges Franju, who was unable to attend and would pass away two years later. On the jury, Amicus cofounder Milton Subotsky deliberated alongside critic José Luis Guarner and rock legend Eric Burdon, lead singer of The Animals. The book Terrores íntimos was published, in which around thirty authors revealed their favorite horror film or scene. Among the contributors: Manuel Vázquez Montalbán, Joan Brossa, Domènec Font, Guillermo Cabrera Infante, and Maruja Torres. To promote Catalan cinema, the Producers’ Association organized an international film market at the Calípolis Hotel. That year’s outstanding harvest brought to the Festival Legend, Fright Night, Lifeforce, and a Wes Craven double bill: Swamp Thing and A Nightmare on Elm Street.
