A tribute was paid to Chicho Ibáñez Serrador, director of Who Can Kill a Child?, one of the most important Spanish horror films, with a late-night screening of that classic along with El televisor. Fay Wray, King Kong’s “bride” in the classic by Merian C. Cooper and Ernest B. Schoedsack, visited Sitges and posed with the Festival’s iconic image: King Kong standing in the sea, facing the church. Retrospectives were dedicated to Scandinavian fantastic cinema and to Alexander Korda.
