Like Quentin Dupieux's first films, Park Sye-young follows the life of an inanimate object. In The Fifth Thoracic Vertebra, an abandoned mattress becomes the star: from its mold, a creature is born that wanders around Seoul, stealing the vertebrae of the people it encounters. On this unique mattress rests a film with a fascinating imaginary, about the horror and the beauty hidden in our daily lives.
