Synopsis

Like Quentin Dupieux's first films, Park Sye-young follows the life of an inanimate object. In The Fifth Thoracic Vertebra, an abandoned mattress becomes the star: from its mold, a creature is born that wanders around Seoul, stealing the vertebrae of the people it encounters. On this unique mattress rests a film with a fascinating imaginary, about the horror and the beauty hidden in our daily lives.

He holds a degree in visual arts from the Korea National University. He debuted with the short film Cashbag (2019). The Fifth Thoracic Vertebra is his first feature film and was presented at BIFAN.
