Synopsis
A devout sergeant travels to the remote island of Summerisle in order to investigate the disappearance of a twelve-year-old girl. The islanders' archaic beliefs and rituals first shock and then concern him... is it possible that they might have something to do with the case? The flagship film of British folk horror addresses the opposition in the UK between Christianity and paganism, embodied in the magnetic acting duo of Edward Woodward and Christopher Lee.
