Synopsis

Inspired by the novel of the same name by Bruno Schulz, this baroque tale of temporal distortions marks the return to feature length by the Quay Brothers, leading exponents of stop-motion animation. A man travels to a sanatorium in Eastern Europe after being informed that his father has died there. When he arrives, however, he finds him alive, but only now and then. This is how he discovers that a strange spatial distortion is taking place inside the sanatorium.
