Carroll's worldview is largely dominated by the decline of human morality. After stepping on a rusty nail, he begins a descent into hell during which he will struggle to find the truth while trying to preserve his increasingly deteriorating health and sanity. And as his moral crusade draws closer and closer to self-destruction, Carroll asks himself the ultimate question: Are we all doomed, or is he just dying of tetanus?
