Synopsis

A heartwarming story set in 1810s Ireland about a young woman's emerging powers. Winner of the most important award at the Brussels International Fantastic Film Festival in 1985, it follows the vicissitudes of Maura, who is obliged to seek protection from a magical violinist against the violent exclusion coming from her community, which accuses her of witchcraft. An imaginative blend of tragicomedy and folk horror elements, it delivers scenes of truly supernatural beauty.
