In Valdivia (Chile) in the late 1950s, Daniel, a boy who has just lost his mother meets his father's German family, the Riedels, who are going to be responsible for taking care of him. Isolated by their cultural disconnect, he finds comfort in Ema, a girl who will reveal the Riedels' dark secrets to him. When Ema disappears and the tragedy is covered up, Daniel faces this betrayal and decides to seek revenge before leaving.
