We admit it: we don't contemplate facing the final stretch of the year without first passing through the capital of Argentina... where once again we will share with its audience some samples of this year's best Fantastic Cinema.

From Monday, December 9, to Wednesday, December 11, at the Centro Cultural San Martín, six standout feature films from the recent Sitges Festival edition will be screened. This eighth edition of the Sitges Week in Buenos Aires is organized by the Buenos Aires Film Commission, part of the Ministry of Culture of the City of Buenos Aires, the Argentine Academy of Cinematic Arts and Sciences, and the Sitges Festival itself.

The program will be announced in early December, featuring a representative selection of the best of current fantastic cinema, with films exploring horror, thrillers, and science fiction. Over its editions, this event has strengthened the bond between Argentine audiences and the Sitges Festival, establishing itself as a key platform for genre cinema in the country.

As part of this edition, two special activities will focus on the evolution and diversity of Argentine genre cinema.

The first, titled Argentine Genre Cinema at SITGES, Mecca of the Fantastic, will be a colloquium where renowned Argentine filmmakers will discuss their experience at our Festival. In this talk, they will share insights about the impact of their works on one of the most important events in fantastic cinema, highlighting the presence and recognition of Argentine cinema on the international scene.

Additionally, a talk titled Woman In Fan will take place. This meeting will analyze the political, cultural, and social factors that have made fantastic cinema an overwhelmingly male-dominated field, exploring current barriers and opportunities for women’s inclusion and representation in the genre.

All film screenings and special activities will be held at the Centro Cultural San Martín (Paraná 310) in Buenos Aires. The full program and ticketing information will be published soon.
