We can now announce the date for the opening of film submissions for the 59th edition of the SITGES – International Fantastic Film Festival of Catalonia: it will be next Monday, February 23rd at 12:00 p.m. (local time).

Don’t miss the opportunity for your film to become one of the big sensations of the year. At this edition, several films that were screened at the Festival have received major accolades. Frankenstein, for example, received nine Academy Award nominations, as well as four Critics Choice Awards and two Chicago Film Critics Association Awards.

On the acting front, Rose Byrne has enjoyed success wherever she’s appeared: she won a Golden Globe and was nominated for an Academy Award, where she is considered one of the favorites.

Beyond the more well-known names, there are also emerging filmmakers who have been part of the Sitges Film Festival and are now enjoying great success. This is the case with Ugo Bienvenu, whose debut film Arco won the award for Best Animated Feature at the European Film Awards and is currently nominated for an Academy Award and four César Awards.

Finally, and in the same vein, Charlie Polinger received the award for Best First-Time Director from the Directors Guild of America (DGA) this week for The Plague.

Both the Programming Department and the Selection Committee are eagerly awaiting the feature films and short films that will make up the Festival's different sections: from the Official Fantàstic In Competition Selection to Sitges Family, along with Panorama, Órbita, Noves Visions, Anima't, Midnight X-Treme, Brigadoon, and Sitges Documenta.

In the coming days, we will share all the information regarding the rules, regulations, and conditions for film submissions.
