We Return to Ventana Sur Once Again This Year

The year's final stretch wouldn't be the same without our now traditional visit to Latin America. This year we are returning to Ventana Sur, the region's most important audiovisual market, which will be held from December 1st to 5th, and, as you can all imagine, our Festival will be playing a prominent role there.

First of all, a project will be selected from the Ventana Sur – Fantastic LAB! section to participate in the next edition of Sitges FanPitch. As a result, the Sitges Film Festival continues to participate in the international network promoting the circulation of proposals, thanks to which the selected projects are presented at different film markets.

On the other hand, a film from the Ventana Sur – Fantastic! Screenings section will be chosen to be screened at next year's edition of the Sitges Film Festival. The selection includes five films: El muglur, a Mexican-Argentinian co-production directed by Lucila Las Heras; Familia teme enfrentar una nueva noche de terror, an Argentinian production by Cristian Ponce; Kalkutún – Juicio a los brujos, a Chilean production by Jorge Olguín; La sombra, a Spanish-Paraguayan co-production by Michael Kovich Jr.; and La trenza, an Argentinian-Spanish co-production directed by Gonzalo Calzada.

On Thursday, December 4th, we will be participating in the talk ”Anatomía del género” (Anatomy of Genre), together with director Iván Fund, producer Ingrid Pokoprek, and director Laura Casabé, moderated by Mònica Garcia Massagué. During this encounter, these experts will be analyzing the challenges they have faced while making genre films and how they decided to tackle them from the perspective of directing and production.

Finally, we will also be present at the special session “Meet the Fantastic Festivals,” where projects that could be included in different sections of the Sitges Film Festival will be presented.
