
Encounter - Encounter with Christophe Gans
Sitges Encounters includes talks with great figures of genre cinema participating in this edition of the festival.
Christophe Gans will receive the 2024 Méliès d’Or Career Award. This prolific French filmmaker directed one of the segments of the horror anthology Necronomicon and made his solo debut in 1995 with the adaptation of the martial arts manga Crying Freeman: The Lost Paradise. He later challenged the boundaries between genres with Brotherhood of the Wolf, a fantastic blockbuster with a period setting and full of action, which remains one of the highest-grossing films produced in France. Other notable works include Silent Hill, considered one of the most faithful video game adaptations, and Beauty and the Beast, a fairy tale adaptation starring Léa Seydoux and Vincent Cassel.
