A once-famous radio jock, Mazzy now spends his days as a commentator at a small-town station. There is every indication that Saint Valentine’s Day will be like any other, but Mazzy finds himself intrigued by the disturbing news he’s receiving from the outside: a strange virus is being spread through speech and producing violent reactions. Words can be more dangerous than the image of a zombie coming through the window and Pontypool combines both, words and new school zombies. McDonald’s imaginative film would indeed have made even H. G. Wells smile with its claustrophobic atmosphere and a blood-chilling horror story.
Graduated from Ryerson University and debuted as a filmmaker with Roadkill (89). His filmography includes: Highway 61 (91), Hard Core Logo (96), The Tracey Fragments (07) and Pontypool (09), seen in Sitges.
