Veerana (The Wilderness)

de Tulsi i Shyam Ramsay

A bloodcurdling witch who has been terrorizing a small village is finally executed. Her diabolical followers manage to make her spirit possess the village chief’s daughter until the witch is completely reincarnated. A complicated birth due to a combination of eroticism and horror that wasn’t at all well-considered by the prudish censorship of the time, Veerana situated the Ramsay factory at the summit of Indian horror movies once again and today is still capable of seducing the spectator with its imaginative fusion of Western horror and local exoticism.

Tulsi i Shyam Ramsay

Members of the popular Ramsay family, pioneers of modern Indian horror films, they both worked as producers before debuting as directors with Do Gaz Zameen ke Neeche (72). Purana Mandir (84) and Bandh Darwaza (90) were two of their big hits.
