The premise to The Theatre Bizarre is apparently simple: to bring together seven of the most masterful names functioning on the independent fringes of horror and make a group film where each one directs an episode. The result is a carrousel of horror that seems to transport the spirit of the grand guignol by the second to the 21st century. With Udo Kier as the unbeatable master of ceremonies between episodes, we’ll plunge into a festival of hemoglobin, fear and nausea that will remind us at times of EC Comics and at others of the best Lucio Fulci. As we say: seven directors and all the colors of darkness.
