Alois Nebel
de Tomás Lunák
Synopsis
In the master lines of Czech classics like Closely Watched Trains, Alois Nebel follows a train station employee at the end of the Cold War. With Disney and Pixar dominating the animation field, Czech production remains a colossus, like a Gallic village surrounded by Romans. Jan Svankmajer is its particular Asterix. And Tomás Lunák is on his way to becoming his best ally, because with Alois Nebel he has created a true work of reference. Rotoscopic animation and high contrast black and white at the service of a story about memory.
