For Love's Sake

de Takashi Miike

As a girl, Ai was saved from an accident by little Makoto. They meet again years later; she has become a model student and he, a rowdy teen. Ai sets herself out the vital goal of redeeming her savior led astray, but things aren’t going to be at all easy for her... Adapting the manga by Ikki Kajiwara and Takumi Nagayasu, master Takashi Miike blends youth romance, musical and hyperbolic fights in one of those cocktails that can only have a good outcome for the director of Audition. To define it simply as a Japanese version of West Side Story would be to not do it justice. Indescribable.
