Drogo is a young lieutenant who is sent to an isolated fortress in the desert and ordered to defend it from a possible attack by the Tartars. Months and years go by, and loneliness takes its toll on men waiting for an enemy that never appears. This restored copy does justice to the adaptation of Dino Buzzati’s great novel, that hasn’t been able to be seen on the big screen for many years.
