A woman receives the parcel she had sent to her husband, an inmate in a Russian jail. She then begins a sojourn full of humiliations, to find out why her package couldn’t be delivered. Loznitsa shelves the documentaries for a moment and makes a nightmarish film, depicting a cruel and violent country and that addresses one of the favorite subjects in the Slavic imaginary: the system’s terrible pitfalls.
Born in Belarus and raised in Kiev. He graduated as a mathematician and worked as a scientist. He studies filmmaking at the VGIK. He directed My Joy (10), In the Fog (12) and Maidan (14), among others.
